[QUOTE=GingerK;8316975]Toverly, you can get your DH into a fabric shop??!!

He loves them. At one shop, he asked if they had a broom and ended up blowing off their sidewalk outside with their leaf blower. He finds a way to stay busy. I may even have him going to Houston in 2020. He wants to test out the different long arms. Even though, I don't want one.

My husband too! He now has all kinds of shirts. He never complains about going to fabric stores.

Just what I needed, but yeah -- among my many funky fabrics I have shirts to make!

Here's the original thread (I think)
Aloha - cute little Hawaiian shirts

and in it is the "I had several prints from my Maui trip a few years ago and started this quilt before my trip a month back. I picked up some more and love the way this turned out. It is a pattern from Moda" http://www.modafabrics.com/fp_cfac-sunshine.pdf

This would be a great pattern for using shirts that belonged to a loved one. It would be a lovely keepsake. Also the same shirt could be made into a few blocks for different quilts.

Tartan, that's absolutely adorable! Iceblossom, thanks for posting the links. The pattern does show a strip at the bottom of the shirt.

The pattern shows that the white sashing is the bottom of the shirt, so no white need be added to the block. The white sashing is also at the end of each sleeve.
