qm ---i like the idea also of trading the blue block in the star to the redish color that is used on the outside star

What about using some other red fabric for the center, maybe some calico reds and a red on white fabric where there is a little more red than white? I just think the blue center takes away from the pretty red. Maybe use a blue as a sashing instead?

Out of all three choices I think the batik is best, although I don't really care for that one either, it's better than the other two. Sorry!
