I prefer the sashing that is not the same print as the interior of the block, but the white does seem a bit harsh. How about a soft beige, not the print you used in your block, but a tone on tone? I think the orange flange is a great idea, too!

I prefer the lighter sashing and think the orange flange would work better with it. Both lend themselves to a crisper/cleaner look. Nothing wrong with the other for reasons stated above....just a matter of preference.

actually I do like either one- white is too stark and the print is to matchy-matchy. I think a light tan solid /small print that reads solid would look better. IMHO.

How interesting that you said that! Because I considered that, too! I don't much like the orange against the brown, actually. But when I auditioned those stripes they just didn't look the way I wanted, and I began to prefer the very narrow -- just a peek -- of orange. I'll post a couple of photos with the orange flange idea against both the print sash and the white and see what everyone thinks. Also, I've just realized I have yet ANOTHER issue: a shortage of the brown; I don't have enough for the borders....unless I find some I've put aside, which I doubt. It's Legacy Camoliere texture (brown) that I got at JoAnn's, and I saw it just last week on the web (while looking for more of the tan) and now can't find it. This quilt may never be finished!

This made my day! Please thank your husband for me! And thank you, too! Your reaction to the print is mine. I like it....and I kind of don't want to do it because it's "safe".....if that makes sense. Still haven't decided, though.

Nice quilt. I like the white sashing better than anything else. Definitely not the blue. Show us the finished product.

Lots of good advice. I am still what I consider a beginner. I love black & white. Have made two small quilts. one with a bit of coral in it and now one with lime green in it. so I do two borders. the inner one is the coral or lime green and the sashings are black - the border one of the blacks that look right with the various blocks. Fun to read all the comments.

Going to look great however you decide to finish it!

If it were my quilt I think I would look for a creamy tan blender to use for the sashing as I'm not a big fan of white.

Okay, here are two more photos showing the orange flange against both the white sashing and the print sashing. (apologies for the first photo being blurry). The orange would be narrower than shown in the photo with white sashing, as it is in the print sashing one -- just a peek of orange. (the blue is the comforter on the bed, by the way ).

I promise these are the last photos, until one showing the finished quilt.....because I don't want to be seen as monopolizing the board. Thanks again to all who commented and made suggestions. Really grateful; you help me "see"!
