Helmets are not required in Florida either, I told ex-husband if he was wearing his helmet and had an accident, I would stand by him, as long as he needed, if he wasn't wearing his helmet, I would walk away and leave him on the spot. (No, that's not why he's my ex) My best girlfriend was riding without her helmet, lost control, crashed and 3 days later died. Left behind a 10 year old son. I truly do believe in freedom of choice, but I think we should consider the consequences also.
but it was her choice, and her consequences - what right do you or I or anyone else have to make that choice for her?

I'm an ICU nurse in a level 1 trauma center and every time I see a biker without a helmet, I know I have job security!!! That may be offensive to some, but here in suburbia, it is a fact of life.

My son had a motorcycle accident a few years back. He was wearing a good bell helmet. He has a couple of problems. He can work & lives by himself. Best of all he is alive!!!! He hit a tree head on! The accident was not his fault. Excavating dug up across the road & did not fill back in properly. They & the city were held responsible. Police said he was NOT going too fast. They had no signs or barracades!!!! He is doing very well now.

Like I said he is alive.

I think most of us that are concerned about the helmet come from states with helmet laws. Michigan requires it I know Ohio does not. It is just strange to us to see someone riding without one. I am sure she is careful and is doing what she wants.

Love your ride! I ride behind my husband. We made a promise to our kids (grown) that we would always were a helmet. Perhaps you could make a "quilt" cover to slip over your helmet, so you wouldn't mind wearing it to quilt class. (just and idea) Just ride safe and enjoy!

I have a pepto bismol pink helmet for my scooter. Don't even ride around the neighborhood w/out it.
