Quite honestly, I find the one second up from the bottom on the right is very distracting for me.It looks like a landscape standing vertically and I would always be wanting to turn it.

If it is the size you want then just bind it in the red. If you want it a little bigger, add a solid white border around and then bind in red or add the red border and bind in the dark blue. I really like how the red at the edge really makes the touches of red in the center pop. It is very pretty and I'm sure whatever you decide will be lovely!

Did you decide on your lay out? I agree that movement in the quilt comes from many different sources. I think a red inner border with a blue outer boarder would look smashing.

I would have the blocks going the same direction. Love the last picture and think a dark blue border would frame it nicely. It's going to be so pretty no matter how you finish it.

I am not savvy about movement but your last picture the blocks jumped out at me. I really like it. Is the jumping out mean movement? I really like the placement in the last pic. By far my favorite. I hope you post the picture of it after you decide on the border(s).

Here's the finished top. Some blocks still go in the "wrong" direction because of the need to join them without the sashing seams lining up, but I'm pleased with it overall.

The sashing fabric is from a Christmas collection at my LQS. The friendly wonderful clerk led me to it knowing I aim at sales and cheaper lines - it was on sale after Christmas for 40% off. The blocks are Moda's Wildflowers - as is the outer border.

You got it! it looks really good. The touch of red pulls out the red throughout the top wihtout overpowering it (IMHO, that is).

Its a great quilt, but i too would go a little crazy....er ( lol) if they aren't going the same direction. This is the same reason i have never done a " true" scrappy quilt.

if the quilt is not square, but longer from top to bottom, I'd also want the directional fabric to go "up" too.
