moving
I'm getting ready to move this month and I have a bernina790 with embroidery unit. I have only had my machine for about 5 months. I haven't even opened the embroidery box yet. I still have the box for the sewing machine. Would you trust the movers to move your machine and embroidery box if you packed the machine back in the box. If I take it with me thats about the only thing that will fit in my car. I had considered buying the luggage that the machine and embroidery unit go it. That would take up less space in my car. Only moving about 4 hours away to Charlotte NC. I plan on packing my sewing room myself but the machine I don't trust to anyone. My husbands company is moving us so I know everything is insured and all that. What would you do?

I moved in October and only moved 40 miles. I trusted Mayflower with my possessions as I do not have anyone to help me. My Pfaff was smashed to pieces. They tried to hide it but I discovered it right away. When I next move, my machines are going with me in my car. I would never take the risk again.

When I take my machine to have it serviced I do not pack it in the original box, but if I was driving 4 hours and could get it back in the box I would. And I would not let movers take it - they load a lot of items onto a dolly and if something falls off, well....... yes, they are insured but usually it is not to full value, it is "Actual Cash Value" which means it is depreciated due to use. Not to mention a lot of movers have a per pound rate and not an assigned value.
Hope your move goes well, I know a lot of people that never had a problem.

with movers read about their insurance liability carefully. unless you buy more, they're liability is based on weight and it's not much.......if you're concerned tho, take it with you. i didn't give the movers my computer or sewing stuff.....altho everything they moved i had packed and it arrived in fine shape.
