Ok, where have I been? Never heard of a mugrug. Is it something like a coaster? Love to see a picture of them.

My grandson Nolan made me a rug mug last summer. He was 7 at the time. I love it and use it everyday. The grands like to use the featherweights and this was Nolans project for me. I sold quite a few at the craft sale for gals to use at the office.

I use mine by my computer at home as that is where I have my morning coffee. I love it and have made one as a gift for a friend & am thinking of making some as Christmas presents for my small group. I went to a quilt show over the weekend and was talking to one of the vendor's and mentioned it to her, she had never heard of them but said they sounded cute. I suggested she make some to sell at the shop, I may make one to take to her as a sample so she can see what I am talking about.

I will try to get a demo on the clothesline mug rug out this week on my blog.

I am actually excited about doing it...I need some more anyway. Mine keep disappearing after visitors leaves.........hmmm

Keep those left over quilt scraps...you'll need 'em!

Please let us know when you do your tutorial. I have never seen or heard of a clothesline one.

I guess my hubby was wrong & these will get used, lol!!! He was so funny thinking about cookie crumbs on his coaster~ I reminded him that these do get washed!!! Thanks for all of the replies. I am thinking I may use use of my small orphan blocks next...I could get hooked on making these because I love using up those little bits & pieces. Since I am a hand quilter these will give me a chance to practice my machine quilting. I get the best ideas from all of you ladies sharing here :o)

I've given them with a coffee mug and some tea bags inside as a gift and have seen them used.

I use mug rugs or coasters all the time. All of my tables are solid wood and setting cans or glasses on the surface makes a horrible ring that damages the surface. I even use a cork coater under a jar candle to keep the heat away from the wood of the furniture.

It would store in a diaper bag pretty easy to have a clean spot to put goldfishies out when you stop at a resturant or park picnic table. How do you use them & who do you give them to?
Your idea made me think ... at a restarant today my water glass dripped water down my blouse... condensation you know, so I am going to make some to take out to eat. That should help, right?
