Mug Rugs as Coasters
#31
I thought Mug Rugs were coasters. Mine are made out of that plastic mesh stuff woven with yarn, with "mug rug" and a picture of a mug woven into them, and then fringe on two ends. My crafty Mother made them for me years ago. I have two sitting on my desk right now, one with my water bottle on it and one with my Pepsi can.

I'm glad to see this thread...I made some coasters with just two layers of fabric and one layer of cotton batting. They work fine and come out of the washer fine, BUT in the summer time (think Texas coast)a glass sweats so much it soaks thru the coaster. I'm going to try these methods...thanks.

The correct product name is Insul-brite made by the Warm & Natural Company. This is a heat resistant product used in pot holders or oven mitts but can also be used to reflect cold. For hot dishes, it should always be used with an additional layer of batting.
