The Gourmet Quilter has an excellent tutorial on an easy mug rug. I've made half a dozen of them.

I saw a cute idea the other day. Mug rugs or coasters - put an applique on each one. I'm going to do some with dogs and cats for a friend of mine. Not sure on size yet - maybe 6" or 7" squares; considering rectangles too - 5" X7" or so. Lots of ideas on here.

i host a lot of mugrug swaps online; every month is a different theme. this particular mugrug
theme was "transportation" mine usually measure 6 x 9". just think of it as a tiny quilt, big enough for a cup and a treat. they really are very useful.[ATTACH=CONFIG]500092[/ATTACH]
