I prefer those threads, too, but my Pfaff will take just about anything. If you're having a problem with your machine and threads, try a different needle-sometimes that will help. Connecting threads thread, though considered piecing weight is a lot thicker than Aurifil 50, so it may need a needle with a bigger eye - a topstitch needle. Embroidery needles also have a bigger eye and longer indent on the shaft of the needle to keep the less sturdy thread from being worn when it is sewn. These needles may help your machine accept other threads.

I have a Babylock Esante. The spool holder is horizontal. My dealer told me to put the spool on the machine with the thread coming out from the bottom. I use Guttermann for sewing and Sulky for embroidery and haven't had too much trouble with either. I still have some Coats/Clark that I use on occasion, but I won't buy it anymore. Change the needle occasionally and good luck!!

I don't use thread horizontal. I use a thread stand. This has solved many thread problems when the spool is vertical not horizontal.

My Brother innovis1000 is very happy with connecting threads cotton essentials. It can be a bit linty, but I clean out the bobbin area regularly.

I only use Gutterman 100% Cotton for piecing and it works fine in all my machines (4 Janomes) My problem is black thread on my MC10000. It doesn't matter which brand they all shred even R&A. Wish I could figure why it only happens with black thread. Even when I slow it down the black always shreds.

I have a BL Esante and just recently purchased a Symphony. I've used mostly Gutterman and Mettler with the best results but have used Coats & Clark when I'm stuck for a specific color. I've also used Connecting Threads cotton without issues. I notice more problems with Coats than the other two. Haven't tried the more expensive ones.

My Babylock Ellegante II will use anything. Check your tension and be sure your bobbin area is clean.

My old Viking machine refused to sew with Gutterman thread. It made me crazy. I thought the machine was broken. FOund out I just needed to switch thread brands. It sewed with everything else i tried. My Janome seems to sew with whatever I put in her.

I have a Janome 6600 that has been very picky. She does not like Gutermann. However, a friend suggested I try the Little Genie Magic Bobbin washers to see if they helped. Voila! No more backlashes or thread nests! Worked like a charm, so now I put them in all my sewing machines.
