OK, I looked at your pictures on the linked post and what I would do to fix this is simply applique the center part of the sun on instead of peicing it. You can modify the size of it any way you want then. I would take your ray units without the arched unit that is puckering up on you and complete the blocks as rays. Then I would draft your enlongated arch as one solid piece and applique it in place right over the "hole" left from the arch unit you can't get to piece correctly. Many mariner's compass are assembled this way. I hope I am not too late, this is too beautiful to throw away. Put it to the side for a few months and try doing it via applique. With applique you can draft you the arc piece to be whatever size you need it to be.

I just about gave up on a baby quilt I have yet to quilt together. I wrote the designer (no answer) and had a question here. I FINALLY got it figured out. I HATE it when a good plan DOESN'T come together!!!

I have had a few blocks go by the way... I have either gone back and figured them out, or tossed them :wink: Some day I will try again, but it is not worth making quilting seem like such a chore...

I did a big circle wedge quilt, it was a disaster from the start. I kept redoing and hoping for the best. It was so frustrating I wadded the whole mess up in a ball and put it in the trash just as the garbage truck was coming. I watched the truck eat it up and felt like I finally won!

Life is too short and there are too many nice quilt patterns out there that won't turn our hair gray(er). Although I've never fully ditched a WIP, it may happen some day. I say, if it gives so much grief, it's not worth it. Onward and upward!

Yes, I have had things that frustrated me. Sometimes, I work on it and sometimes it just becomes so not worth it! I don't blame you for wanting to move on to something that you will love doing and it will love you. Quilting is supposed to be fun!
