I am so sad, my Bernina 440 QE has a problem that just started. When I sew for a few minutes, the computer screen looses all it's icons and the machine stops sewing. If I turn it off, I can sew a bit, then it stops again. Has anyone had this happen to them? I can only hope that it isn't the computer board. I've had the machine for 4 years now and it has been a dream. It was totally serviced in September too. Good thing I still have my 38 year old Bernina 830, and it is still going strong. Guess I will need to use one of my vintage machines, the Bernina or one of my Featherweights for a while.

hate to hear that as I have the 440 also. Mine is only a yr old & no problems yet. Sure hope your machine dealer can solve the problem. I wouldn't even know where to begin to solve your problem.

when I had to replace my computer board in my 1090 it was 150. a few years ago. so if its that maybe it won't be so much. at one time it was very expensive to replace. good luck

I'm so sorry. Maybe it isn't too sick. I love my 440QE and would be lost without it. Good Luck.

On the bright side, if it is a board, you still have a year of warranty left :)

I'm having the same problem with my Activa 220. I found your post via Google. I'm going to take my machine to the dealer tomorrow, but I was trying to figure out whether this problem is common (and/or serious.) I've had my machine for almost 5 years and it's been great until this. Have you had any news on the repair for your machine?
