You're not gonna believe this, (and I feel like all I've done lately is take up space on the board), but the national passion for the quilt shop hops originated in my shop in Plano, TX - along with Sandy Brawner's Quilt Country in Lewisville, TX, in the late 1990s.

Our Maywood/RJR fabric rep had seen the idea somewhere "up north" of TX and had mentioned it to us before the first hop in TX. After a VERY successful first one in the Dallas, TX, area with 10 other stores, Sandy and I sent it nationwide by our posts on FabShopNet where other shop owners jumped on the idea. Within 3 years, shop hops were all over the country, amazing!

My sil and I are doing one on Saturday. Because I work every other weekend we're going to try and hit all 10 stores in one day. Its doable especially using my gps seemed like we got to the stores quicker last hop not following the map quest.

That is so awesome! Thanks for sharing! I also won a $10.00 gift certificate for the month of July. I was glad to know that regular people do win!
