My First Quilt Top :)

Thanks for the insights Macthayer! I am a bit stubborn, so will probably quilt it myself, but I frankly never thought about practicing on something else first (isn't that crazy LOL). I'm kinda the jump in head first type I have fabric left over and wanted to make shams to match, so perhaps will quilt those first. My Baby Lock Ellisimo Gold has some quilting designs built in, but I agree about the roses motif. Thank you for taking the time to share with me Happy New Year!

Wow! Your first? Wow! I don't won't ever, ever show my first quilt! If this is your beginning, you are very talented.
Love your choice of fabrics and your embroidery is just beautiful. Congrats on a truly wonderful first quilt.

Just beautiful ! ! !
If you're going to quilt it yourself I would try swirls. You will find lots of examples on the internet and on youtube. You can also do a large meander but I would do swirls myself. Good luck

Your bed runner is beautiful. The decorative touches in the room certainly indicate your love of sewing and related things. It would be nice for you to quilt it yourself. Hobbs 80/20 batting is nice to work with but you might consider silk batting. I have used it a few times and really like the way it drapes and 'works with you' as you quilt. I would recommend using stencils to put your design on your quilt. There is lots of youtube information for them. My favorite method is to draw the design on vellum type paper (I buy it in 20 yard by 12 inch rolls at Officemax) pin it to your quilt and stitch on the lines. There is a very wide choice of design elements in stencils. They are available at quilt stores and on line. Good luck and keep up the great work!
