Yes, it was my quilt, but this isn't what I wanted, so that advise was worthless to me. Anyway, it is a rude comment in my opinion. Sorry ladies. I am a fish swimming upstream here I know. I don't want to sound as mean as this sounds, so forgive me.
I actually agree with this. When people are asking for an opinion, giving honest feedback is important to a persons growth as a quilter. After all, we were or are at one time, a beginner and seeking information. Be kind enough to gladly share our learning experience forward.

    * always check my machine settings for 1/4” seams, removes so much grief later
    * I will always spot mismatched points and corners on a quilt - therefore, I really concentrate on those.
    * I never skip pressing every seam as it is put on the block. It really helps with accuracy

My quilts have to be a warm hug to whomever I give it to. Period.

I try to learn from each new project. I am on my own, never had any instruction but plenty of inspiration from aunts who were so gifted at sewing. I've only repeated a quilt twice and may have to do another one of my favorite. I say I give them away, but I looked around and there is at least 10 projects here and there in my home. Interesting reading all the replies. We are more alike than not.

i do have quidelines/techniques/steps in the process that matter to me.

in general, i think a top should lay flat and have 90 degree corners and not pull apart at the seams.

are there some things that "matter" to you more than others?
Those work for me. I'll be ripping part of a border off as it does NOT lay smooth with the fabric its sewn too. RE-DO
