When my dear MIL was alive she did any mending I had. They spent the winter in FL and when she came home I would have a stack of things from my family. She enjoyed doing that stuff while watching TV. Boy do I miss her.

I hate to patch, hem, sew zippers back in or hem. Everyone has finally quit asking me because when they put in in my sewing room it just disappears never to be seen again. LOL

My DH knows I hate to do mending so when he has something he wants me to fix he says, If it was for the kids or G-kids you would do it. He's right I would & thankfully they don't ask very often.

If he thinks it is fun & easy, show him how to do it. Make him understand that quilting is grate fun. After working all day, "you deserve to relax & enjoy yourself." Nancy

Yes, I understand. I also don't like to hem men's pants and my
husband has such short legs that I have to hem the new ones. I
guess we can't win them all but I think we may have the store to
    shorten them next time.

I don't do mending. My mom always thought that patching clothes was a sign of being poor, as she grew up that way. I will hem pants but not patch. My son had this pair of pants that had all these holes in them and I kept throwing them in the garbage and he would take them out again and wear them. So I fixed him, I took the scissor and cut straight up the front of the leg. They stayed in the garbage. lol

I really enjoyed reading comments on this thread,Had lots of laughs. My Husband buys his pants long 34 length so I can hem them 33 I think the 32 are just perfect.I hate to hem too, even for my self.My son one time bought longer pants because they were out of his length. Please go to another store.Or how about the $100.00 pair of pants that have lining!Yes I did it,two expensive pairs. She offered to pay.But I didn't accept.I am getting fast at hemming pants,I just jump in a do it.But still will avoid buying pants that are to long for myself. And as far as hubby,I get even with him,He is handy!!!!!
