Advice - get a sewing machine with NO free arm - then you physically can't do mending on it.
I do however have a double duvet cover here that a friend has asked me to make into a single and it's sat there for weeks and I really should do it, it will probably only take half an hour and I said I would but the truth is, I DON'T WANNA!!!

I patch a lot of jeans. My son in law is a carpenter and I fix his pants all the time.
It's a skill I can use to help others.
I usually un-sew the seams and replace whole sections, that's not really "patching"

I do what is necessary in my own household but no I do not take in sewing and patching from others for "Free" or "Cash". I do not enjoy it, have to much to do, just say no and that is all there is. Most of the freeloaders just to lazy wanting you to do their work while they have good time. No thanks.
