Now ladies without a DH etc I just look think buy. So therapeutic. Sometimes a think a warning voice like really another machine would make me think that how many machines can I use at one time with one pair of hands? I must admit I also like electric tools. Drills bandsaw etc

My DH and I have separate finances, so other than rolling his eyes at me when (yet another!) box of fabric shows up on the porch, he doesn't really care what I spend my money on. And since it's not his money, if I'm ever verbally mulling over a choice between two machines, he often tells me to go ahead and buy the expensive one. Easy for him to say, he's not paying for it! LOL

I have the exact opposite problem...not that I'm complaining! My husband is very supportive of my quilting. When I first started I wanted to just buy a cheap machine. A quilting friend of mine suggested I get a good one and took me to the local Elna dealer and a few others. I fell in love with a used Elna that had been traded in for a "trade-up". The used 1 cost $1600! I thought that was totally too much. I told my hubs and he said that's what I should get and went and bought it for me along with a very nice sewing rolling chair and had a table made for me. That was 8 yrs ago. Fast forward to about 4 yrs ago and he bought me a BabyLoc Jewel and table to the tune of just under $10,000. This past Aug he got a very nice sized bonus and wanted to buy me a brand new Elna! I told him there is nothing wrong with the 1 I have and I love it. Instead he is putting lighting in my quilting studio (formerly the formal LR) and also finishing the garage to move my Jewel, table and battings out there. He brought home a very nice cabinet last night that has storage and a granat top and said he has a bigger one that matches coming. Once we get the Jewel moved out of the studio we're getting a couch or recliner in there so he can come in with me and watch TV while I quilt. The other night he was looking at a donation quilt I had hanging up waiting for binding and he said how he thought I got better with each quilt I made and felt it was a shame that I gave so many of them away...he's a definite keeper!

If my DH asks why I'm getting another machine ( I have 13), I ask him why he's getting another bicycle (he has over 30 vintage bikes)...

Oh my husband is definitely supportive of my habit ...but if he didn't roll his eyes and make a comment or two, he'd feel like he hadn't done his job. LOL He has let me turn our master bedroom into my studio, even though we still have to sleep there. And he says that once the kids are gone, I can move our bed to our son's room and have the entire master (it's ginormous!) for a studio. Not many men would agree to moving out of the master!

Mine just says..."whatever makes you happy, makes me happy". Yeah, he's a keeper. I've had him for 37 almost 38 years now. haha

I encourage my DH with his motorcycle hobby as well. Recently had it totally remodeled for him and bought him a big air compressor. He only has three motorcycles at the momeht though. The payoff for me? I got a big Koala table a month or two ago and today we bought a longarm. We're definitely a pair of enablers!

Me too. When DH told me all longarms are the same, I said it was just like me saying all motorcycles are the same. He got my point immediately.

DH's latest had to have was a new bigger big truck he had to have after he bought another four wheeler so he could haul all of his toys to hunting camp. We could have bought a small house for what all that cost. I don't blink at the cost of a sewing machine.

LOL! Clearly us quilters are attracted to bikers. I love it!


ETA: by the way, I love to ride myself, but I'd rather spend the money on sewing machines. I can get by with just one bike myself. ;-)
