Oh my I'm still in tears! I have my Aunts Quilt to finish that she started. My Aunt was everything to me. MOM,Aunt, Sister and friend. Everytime I get it out I end up having so many memories of us doing things together. Don't think I'll ever get it finished. Gives me so many memory and so many tears!!

Your story touched me to, what a wonderful gift, you can carry on her good work and keep the tradition alive. My Mum has been an artist all her life, (folk type art) and at almost 80 she mostly just does cards now, some of her very own original designs I am going to work into a quilt one day, I have been collecting bits and pieces for it. She did sew but not a great deal, she did not make quilts but she thinks my idea of working her designs into a quilt is a good one. You are a very lucky lady!

Yes, you should have prefaced this with "Get out your tissues before you read this...". What a blessing, both the memories and the gifts from your mother. A heritage to pass on.

What a nice story. Very inspiring to me! I hope that one of my grandchildren will love and think of me the way you think of your grandma. What a great family history your quilt will make.

this is a real heart story - guess I needed a cry cause I can't stop, but that's okay because I love hearing stories of Grandmothers, mine taught me to sew and crochet, in fact she was a flapper in the 20's and I still have the beading from that dress.

Thank you so very much for sharing,

I am new to this board and I have read alot of pages but I could not read past the second page. With tears in my eyes and running down my face, I thought what a GREAT gift from your mom.

It also made me think I wished I had been old enough when my Grandma was in good health to spend time with her and learn from her. My mom did not get along with her so needless to say we didn't get to spend much time with her.

This is what I call a true gift. How thoughtful of your mom to give it to you! You will cherish it forever and ever! My eyes were misty, too! :)
