Ok, I'm crying, too. Thanks so much for sharing.your story. I still miss my Mawmaw, too. She lived next door and I saw her almost every day growing up. She sewed for me and even made clothes for me when I started teaching. She taught me unconditional love. I treasure each thing I have from her.

One story I tell often is how she showed me her hands when her fingers were bent from arthritis. Her comment:
"Look, Sheri, isn't that awful? If they were bent the other way I wouldn't be able to hold my crochet hook!"

My friends say she made lemonade from lemons.

Not only was your grandmother a wonderful seamstress, she was beautifully organized! You must also have a great mom, passing on such a treasure to you. Aren't mom's and grandmothers wonderful?

I had a similar relationship with my grandmother and I too miss her very much. What I wouldn't give to have the "gift" of her heart and work. You truely are blessed.

What a beautiful story! I am sorry for your loss but it looks like you have a piece of that special relationship physically with you now. Your grandma is still with you and I bet as you fill in the blanks with the patches that you are going to make, she is going to be right there with you helping you along. God bless and happy sewing.

What a wonderful story. I'm sure that every time you look at your quilt, you can feel your grandma's arms around you.

I was very close to my grandma too and as a 1st time grandma, there's nothing more precious than my grandson. I hope someday he loves me half as much as I love him!

I am not misty eyed as one person wrote...I am boo hooing right along with you and I need a box of tissues. It is out of reach..but since I am draining..I will need to get up and get it soon. My Mom was a quilter and she passed in May. I still can't get through a box of her things! You are a marvel. I know you will enjoy each and every second you work on this sampler quilt. I am so happy for you!

Did you have any tissues in your bag to share with me. She had everything all planned out to pass down in tact. Awesome story and thank you for sharing. (((hugs))).
