So here's two squares that I have right now. I'll be taking them apart (well, except for the french braid, which is PERFECT I must add!) It's my ever loving triangles!!!! I'm just going to sew all the french braids this morning and then take these two apart this afternoon and see how I feel later this evening. Just got back from a 3-hour run with the dog, so I should be good until at least 4:00!

Take one of your braids and lay it on your cutting mat. Orient it as if the block were finished, using the lines on your cutting board to get it diagonal. Now take one of your rulers and lay it along perpendicular (up-down) edge as if it was one side of the finished block. Take another ruler (or anything straight) and lay it on the horizontal edge--so the two come together at a corner. What is the measurement on the ruler from the edge of the braid on the perpendicular side to the corner where the two rulers meet?

Add an inch to that measurement, cut the square that size and then cut diagonally. Trim if necessary. Try it with a piece of paper first so that you don't waste more fabric.

Oh, and it is a beautiful pattern!

OK, so all my french braids are done - still have to fix three (redo one completely - LOL) but here's a general outline of the quilt!

That will be a fantastic quilt. I am sure you will know to turn the pinks so the darks meet in the center like the others do!

Maybe it's a trick of photography, but in the pic of your blocks the braid on the top right appears to be wider than the lower left. If so you will need to trim so they are even. This would account for the triangles not fitting, and they may need to be cut a bit larger too.
Have marked where your problem seems to me.

Thanks so much for sharing the pictures - I really want to do one of these. You have done a great job and the colors look so good together.
