I would NEVER press sheets, even on my similar "big board"...butif you dont have one of these, may I suggest you beg, bake, threaten, or do whatever it takes to get yourself one!

Your new ironing board is awesome...maybe I can get one made as well.
I've been using a mini ironing board the entire time. Have not yet invested in a regular full-sized one. I have even pressed Queen sized quilt tops on it...try doing that without cursing a few times. :-D

What a neat idea! I'm putting it on my honey-do list! Are corner legs not need for extra support though?

    I made mine 24 x 60, my regular ironing board is 14 x 54, it fits fine.

What a great idea! I'm going to add this to my list of 'what I want in my new sewing room'

Maybe when DH and I finish the house...

Now this is something I could do too. Thanks for showing the how tos. 1/4" plywood would work and I think there's a piece in my basement right now left over from my one son making the other son a new computer table last week. Woohoo, I'm on my way.

I was worried about that, but it turned out to be a needless worry. So long as the ironing board underneath is fairly steady and has a good wide base itself, then it shouldn't be wobbly. If you have a really cheap ironing board that falls over if you barely nudge it, then you will probably have issues, though.
