You ask how we remember what batting is used in what quilt (so you know how much quilting is required). For me I'm able to remember what batting I have used, because of my book. I always have a picture (even if it's only hand drawn for the pattern), along with the names and small samples of each of the fabrics. This will also have the name of the batting and a finished picture of the finished item. I use this book when I'm shopping for fabric or show and tell with a couple of friends of mine. Have also been able to use the same book, when interviewing for sewing jobs. When someone wants to see a sample of your work, I'm able to pull my book out of my bag (my quilt book goes with me all the time - you never know when you will need it). I make a new book each year, this way they never have to be so big. Just me, but you might find that something like a work sheet or a book work for you too. Good luck

Bubbie- you are way too organized. I have always laughed at my organized chaos. Only I know why I bought a particular fabric that I hoard for years just knowing what I need it for. I finally cleared out a lot last year ( already regret giving some away) but storage gets to be an issue. I think I plan to stick w/one product for batting so I don't have to fret about it - ha .

Just looked on a bag of Hobbs 80/20, and it says up to 3 and 1/2 inches apart, hand or machine.
