A bowl of ammonia clears them out. I love animals and I on the way to a vet at 7:30 pm for my puppy of 1 year old. She has an ear infection . :XD:

I have four cats, and I have learned they will - at some time during the day or night - go where ever they want to. I leave my work on my cutting table, and just put a sheet over it. If I am cutting material or laying it out getting ready to sew, I just put everything on the one table and cover it. I have a portable table ironing board so that can go under the sheet too.

Do any of you remember the custom of leaving the food from the Sunday lunch on the table,covering it with a sheet, and then it being ready for dinner. My grandmother in Tennessee did this. Times have really changed- nothing is left out now!

Well, I have 5 lovely indoor felines and 3 lovely canines.
As for training them to stay off tables and countertops it works as long as they have me in site. I know what goes on while I am sleeping LOL
I am with some of the other ladies. Just throw a sheet over everthing and always make sure your pins are safely tucked away. One of my kitties decided at one time to take every single straight pin out of my pincushion and neatly lay those around it. This taught me a lesson.

I put all my fabric into a big zip lock bag. I use an old sheet to cover my 3 machines on my dining room table. My problem is plants. I know so many are poisonous to cats. I have one bad boy that loves my plants so I don't have but a few. I have a zebra plant I have nursed for almost a year. I put it in the window above the sink and make sure a wet cloth covers the center bar but my pothos (ivy) plant that I put on top of my built in china cabinet 7 ft. up hoping it would grow down the sides...but no, leaves are partially chewed off of it before it could grow good out of the pot! And I know he does it when I am in bed. Any suggestions on how to stop that?

A friend shared with me they hate citrus and she laid a cut lemon out where she didn't want them.

My cat gave me fits just today. I had a young boy's twin size quilt layed out on my living room rug, to pin with safety pins. When I shooed her away, she moved about 2 feet and layed down. When she is really bad she goes out doors or to the basement with a door closed behind her. I sometimes shake a plastic grocery bag and she high tails it away. She must hate the noise. Good luck. When you find the answer, can it, patent it, and sell it. You won't have to worry about a sewing room or your stash. It will be very affordable then!!!!

You could try the squirt gun idea (but use a sprayer bottle instead). I understand it works pretty well. One just has to watch out for getting water on the wood furniture.
