Did you tell her to read the thread "My sister is the Quilt Police....Who knew!" ?

Don't worry - if she sticks with it, she will most likely mellow. She probably wanted to "share" what a good student she was and how well she paid attention. I bet she didn't mean to come across as a know-it-all. (I just had a whole week with a know-it-all GF. I feel your pain.)

My mom's cousin taught me to sew she also quilted and her attitude was if it was fabric it could go in a quilt. She combined all kinds of fabrics together in one quilt frequently. My mom has one of her quilts that was of polyester double knit. Although she passed away long before I ever started quilting I keep her in mind when I make things. We need to keep in mind the real tradition in quilting was, use what you have available. We are lucky to be able to get all the beautiful cottons that are out there but our quilts don't have to be made of just cotton fabrics.

Yup she sounds like a new quilter. She does need to realize we all have our own way of doing thing and we do get the same results. It is suppose to be fun making quilts not stressing out.

She sounds like my sister, she knows everything. She even tells me about quilting techniques because she lives in Sisters, OR and knows the lady who owns the quilt store there. At least your sister took a quilting class.

My sister doesn't quilt and she can't even sew.

I just love it when someone does something once and is the immediate expert I mean no disrepect to your sister, but try to ignore her for now and soon enough she will be asking you questions, when she realizes how much you do know. Sisters are like that - yes they are. My sister, bless her heart, did the same thing to me at times, but I loved her anyway, and I miss her.

You created a monster... for now... it will stop when she figures out that she will do much more "reverse" sewing by trying to follow every rule to the letter every time.

She'll get over it when she realizes some of those things you listed are done out of necessity or desire to create something different than someone else did! Give her time!
