A couple years ago I saw this technique. The lady used four separate pieces of binding. She sewed one piece on top another on the bottom. Then did the sides. It was all machine sewn. Now I'd like to try it but need to maybe see a video of how to do it.

Is it the one where all the fabric goes to the back? That binding is called "facing" Ricky Tim's sometimes uses it so the quilt goes right to the edge rather then have a binding showing.

In some ways a facing sounds simpler than a real binding. Interesting idea.

I don't know if this is what you're describing, but when I first began quilting, I made my bindings in 4 sections, doing the top and bottom first, then doing the sides. I have since learned to miter corners.

Many of Debbie Mumm's books and patterns have this type of 4 piece binding.

This sounds like what I was trying to explain. Did it have a name. I want to use a differnt color for the top with the bottom and sides the same.

Seems like it might be a different version to what I saw. Maybe it was her interraptation.(sp?).
