I named one machine, my vintage Singer in cabinet. I call her Lady. The rest have names of my new machine, my class machine, my big machine, etc. DGD calls my white featherweight Sweet.

My Feather weight was named by DH because when she came he though it was too small to be a real sewing machine and he kept insisting it was a toy and I got took. He named her the Micro Machine because she is tiny like the micro machine toy cars.

I'm sure everyone has leftover names they had wanted to name children or pets- IF I was name, I'd start w/ the names I already loved! VICTORIA ROSE, see what I mean!

Layla is great for a black FW. It means "night" in Arabic and as a name, it has a romantic connotation, such as Juliet.

I haven't named any of my 3 FWs yet. I might never. But I'm thinking Betty (black Betty), Thelma or Irma (sisters who were the original owners of my first FW) and Josephine (Josephine Baker). But Hazel I'll reserve for a treadle, circa 1912, if I ever get one because my beloved Grandma Hazel taught me to sew (& everthing else worthwhile) and she sewed on a treadle until the mid 1960's! And not out of necessity, but frugality.
