Just watched Nancy Zeiman's "Sewing with Nancy" show and was fascinated with her new templates (well new to me anyway) for making hexagon blocks without the "y" seam. I think I will order them! She used batiks and boy did her quilts turn out beautiful. Anyone else own this yet? Would love to hear (or see) how your quilts turned out using this.

    Here's the link ....
    http://www.wpt.org/sewingwithnancy/

For anyone who has done a OBW, she's doing it via the same technique of 1/2 hexes being joined for all straight line sewing and no Y seams. So each hex has one seam down the middle.

Kind of like the way Not Your Grandmothers Tumbling Blocks are done.

From the distance you get the full hex one piece look, though up close you see it has the seam.

There is a tut on Missouri Star using this same idea. I bought the template but have not used it yet.
