Are you machine quilting this one? What did you do for a backing? So did you end up with 2 layers of flannel in the middle then???
I am trying to make the opposite color combination for the back...and would really like to hand quilt..

Oh my gosh! That is absolutely gorgeous! I'm still working on my queen size scrappy column and having so much fun with it. I keep getting distracted with holiday projects ... table runners, wall hangings, placemats, pillow cases! I'll get back to it soon ... it's more than 3/4 finished. Can't wait to add that final binding and yell "It's DONE!"

Here's an update on the Column Quilts: Twenty-five quilts were made or donated to the "Quilt to Give" project at the Quilt Expo in Madison WI in October. (The design used was a variation of the Column Quilt projected that I presented on TV.) Last week these quilts were donated to St. John's Hospital in Joplin MO. I interviewed the hand-off of the quilts via SKYPE during a taping of Sewing With Nancy. It was wonderful to see the project create a full circle from the quilting to the giving. I know many of you—or perhaps all of you–have made and given quilts this year. The gift is always in the giving!

I didn't realize it is a McCalls pattern 6528. I picked it up over the weekend when patterns where 0.99. Can't wait to give it a try.

It was probably mentioned in one of the videos but I haven't had time to watch them yet.
