    Thanks for all the suggestions. I've tried magnifying glasses but they distort the prisms in my lenses that 'fix' (sort of) the double vision. Then I start to feel sick.

    I have learned to push the point away from my face, though! I'm considering the eyebrow trimmer and bought a set of embroidery scissors, so will try that.

    Of course, none of this would be necessary if I just didn't make mistakes...
