Congrats! My DH got me a vintage one about a year ago. Don't use it much, but it sews great. I bet those that say it is a workhorse are right, cause it is a really solidly built machine. Great buy!

Necchi is my main sewing machine, mines is a newer one with many stitch. it works hard and I love her. I also have several other brands but my girl is the one I do my sewing on.

Your machine was made in Italy. I, too, gave mine away (dummy me). I had it for almost 40 years and it never, never needed to go to the repair shop. I oiled it faithfully and it served me well. It was in a cabinet with a knee control. I have a fancy Viking and I love it, but I would take that Necchi back in a minute. Mine had cams. Enjoy your steel treasure--not a lot of plastic in those machines.

The lady I got it from said it would sew any material, that is why she got it. She had to be sure that what she used was good because she was using it on her husbands parachutes. Now that is faith in not only your sewing ability but your machine! And faith in your wife also! Wow

I just got a Necchi 3577 from a 90 year old woman who can no longer sew. It didnt come with a manual and i can't find one online. I just need to know how to thread it on the top and know which way the bobbin should wind in the case. I would like to have it working so I can pass it onto someone who doesn't have a machine. I also got an old MW J1265 from her. Am I crazy?

There is a vintage Necchi sewing machine group on Yahoo. Look for Necchi_Sewing_Circle and necchisewingmachineclub. They have manuals for many of the machines in the "files" section of the group. (Actually, you have to join the posting group first; then you can join the group where they keep all the manuals online.) Necchi is really different, so it helps to have a manual.
