You could do a 1600 jelly roll quilt, and just throw a pop of color in every 5 or so strips.

Turn the fabric to the wrong side and see what that would look like maybe you can downplay the flowers etc by doing that

I made my son a Drunkard's Path quilt out of black and white fabrics. He was into dragons at the time, so I bought a batik dragon panel and put it in the center. I interspersed some reds and other colors that were in the dragon panel. He loved it!

One jelly roll will not make a very big quilt. Are you going for twin size? I think I used at least three for twin size, plus some fabrics I had on hand and cut to size. Hope someone knows for sure.

Scroll down to the log cabin quilt. It will tell you how many strips you need for different sizes. http://jellyrollfabrics.com/wp-conte...bric-eBook.pdf

Here's a B&W quilt that I made for my son (then 23) - some of the fabric was floral, little feet, swirly, girly, etc. but once it was cut up - it didn't matter!

This is one I made. Not sure which son is going to claim it. About half the fabrics are florals.
