To me, the border is Victorian heavy with Contemporary light center. Leave the beautiful border fabric for another project and let the star shine in solitary splendor.

I would leave the border off. It fights with the beautiful work you've done in the center. It's stunning!

I must agree with those that say the border detracts from the gorgeous center. If you must make it larger I would somehow keep the center as the focal point. It is just beautiful by the way and I love your border fabric, just not for this quilt.

IMHO, I don't think the border fabric goes with the main part of the quilt... maybe audition some fabrics from the main fabric. It is a beautiful quilt. I think a border would work just different fabrics.

My vote...no border, bind with the same fabric as the outside of the quilt. Do nothing to take away from your beautiful center star. You did a great job on it!!!! You mentioned it would be hanging above a bed that would have a quilt using the border fabric, thus tying the two together. But one day the wall hanging and quilt may part ways and then the border would not have that coordinating quilt to give it a reason to be there. I think the flowery border takes away from the striking beauty of the center of the quilt.

I absolutely love your center but I would not use the flowered border with it. Although the colors work it is a different pattern and I think IMHO tht it takes away from the beauty of your center. I think I would either use the black you already have to frame it or not add any frame. It is beautiful on its own.

I love the border. It finishes the wall hanging nicely.

As so many have stated no border, after critiqueing it again, I agree totally. I had to move the star farther over on the design wall so I moved the border to the other side. YIKES!!!! Did not go well at all. The 1st photo showed it near the same reds as in the border so it looked like it would go but now that its on the other side, a complete transformation. As this will only be a wallhanging going above the bed, the size will still be okay. Before it was almost too large so everything will work out just fine. Thanks all who responded to help me see the light.

The light colored pen stripe is actually a creme to yellow with a little pink batik fabric I had in my stash. I didn't care for the yellowish-green one they used in the pattern. The fabrics used all came in a pack of 150 strips in the size of about 2 x 6.5 so not much leftover to use as someone suggested. But the leftovers won't go to waste as there is always appliqued ?? they might fit.

Thanks again all for your help in helping me not make a BIG MISTAKE.

    Suz in very wet Iowa.

I love that border but really love your quilt more. Please do not put a distracting border on your gorgeous quilt!
