Wow, I started taking the top apart tonight, and the woman who sewed it used VERY TEENY WEENY stitches. This is going to take a LONG time if I don't want to unravel the fabric.

Nice happy quilt. Feathers always remind of vintage.

Well, I've got my SIL's quilt apart and my plans have changed. Once I got the two rows off, I found that the 4 x 5 blocks was actually a nice size and could be used as a lap quilt OR a wall hanging, PLUS that left me two small 4-blocks for each wall hanging/table topper (1 block each just didn't do it justice). I've decided to hand-quilt each 1/4" from each seam. Oh, and a small blue/red border with the extra fabric. I think it will make it 'pop'.

AND, speaking of seams, did this one ever have seams!! I was a bit perplexed taking if apart. Still can't figure out how the woman sewed it, and why she used such a small stitch length, but I'll tell ya, this baby wasn't gonna unravel!!

I'll keep you updated as I progress, and my 'goal' is to have all three finished by SIL's birthday in June. At least that's the plan at this point.

So glad you decided what to do with the quilt. I think you made a wise choice that everyone will enjoy. I look forward to seeing your finished quilt and wallhangings.
