Your quilt is beautiful!! Whoever gets it is going to be soooo pleased!! I can't help on the quilting. The suggestions you have gotten are good ones though.

Holy Goacamole! That's one great quilt top. If you are confident using a large meander with invisible thread to free motion quilt, than do that. If you are confident using varigated or neutral thread and outline quilt, than do that. If you are up for some thread painting than do some of that inside the larger outlined shapes. Go with the style you are confident in doing. As for batt, I perfer Hobbs 80/20 fusible for getting a good wrinkle free back but there are many choices to try. You can also find a batt that you like and use the spray fusible to hold it together for machine quilting. I would really recommend some kind of fusing agent to make the job easier. You can thread bast or pin bast the layers but I don't have as much luck doing that. Good luck.

This is your first ever top? WOW! (I feel so not worthy!) It's gorgeous. I would not use the invisible thread. I have used it in the past and while it is great for hiding where I quilt outside the lines (like a toddler with a colouring book, I'm still learning how to stay straight when I stitch in the ditch), my sewing machine hates it and it gets all balled up in the bobbon case. Not worth the headache, and as Triple Suzie said above, the ends are a bit sharp.

I would quilt individual block with 80/20 batting. Don't quilt over the appliqued birds and etc. your quilt is beautiful.
