    Default need binding measurements

I'm trying to get a t-shirt quilt finished in quick time(she just brought the shirts last week!) and plan to machine stitch the binding the way that it looks like a flange on the front and that is where you finish stitch it. You use two colors of binding and somewhere I wrote down the measurements for each strip so it works,(as through you were using a 2.5" binding) but can't find it anywhere. Does someone have those measurements? Thanks!

1 1/2 inches for the main binding. The accent flange depends on how much you want to show. 1 3/4 for a really narrow flange -- 2 inches for a wider one. I usually split the difference at 1 7/8 inches.

I cut the strips at 1 1/2 and 1 3/4 inches. The flange that peeked out was thin. I would try a small sample first to see which size you like. It can be made with scraps if you don't want to use the quilt binding fabric.
