    Default Need design ideas

I'd like to make a Swedish college-aged man a throw quilt for Christmas that incorporates blocks of the Swedish flag. He will be visiting our country over Christmas. I've already thought of making one large version of this design as the whole quilt. Any other ideas?????

Have you thought of just making the flag as your throw??? I made a mug rug using the British flag for a friend who came from England and she loved it.

I would check that country's flag etiquette, before making a throw that looks like an actual flag.

If you want to honor the flag, but still want something more like a quilt, use several royal blues to make the rectangles, then several bright yellows for the cross. Maybe batiks?

I don't know about him, but I would not want to use a flag as a cover. If it's changed slightly by design, then I'd use a flag quilt.

I've already wondered about the flag etiquette.

What about doing the flag on one side and a selection of your choice or country on the other? That way he gets a taste of his country and of yours - where ever Dreamland is. hehe

how about something more American, he sees his flag all the time.
I'd go with blocks of different Americana sceans, Maybe the empire state bldg.
micky mouse ears, Grand canyon, Golden gate bridge. His stuff, is there all the time. says
nothing about coming to america. I personally wouldn't want a quilt of my flag. I see it all the time.

I agree to change it up so it doesn't look like the actual flag.
