Default Need help adding fabric to all ready quilted quilt!

Alright so I really messed up a quilt that I was giving for a birth present, some how something sticky got on the quilt. I washed it and and washed to get it off but I couldn't get it off. So I cut off the side where it was really bad but know I need to add fabric to the sides and bottom. I have the white fabric to add to it with batting but I don't know how to add or if its worth it. Or should I make pillow cases out of it? Any suggestions would be great.

Look up quilt as you go methods. Leah Day has a good tutorial for this. There are several methods for this and you can find tutorials online. The method that I would probably do uses a narrow strip to take up the space of the seam allowance where you join the two pieces. I'm not explaining well but Leah Day does.

I layered the trimmed edge of the quilt between the new top border and border backing with batting on the outside of one. All right side together. Trimmed the batting to reduce bulk and pressed the two add ons away from the quilt. Bound as usual. Would have been super easy if the corners hadn't needed to be mitered.

It's a little late now but if it happens again maybe Goo-Gone would have gotten if off.
