    as i am rather new here i was wondering how wide a border i should add to this quilt and what color...was thinking black....help

    How pretty!

    I would add a black border top and bottom to frame. Then I would make a piano key boarder from all the fabrics in the quilt. As for the width - at least as wide as an individual shirt-top across.

    I love this! I am going to have to ask for the pattern! I have been saving hubby's tropical shirts for just such a quilt!

    I like the black a lot. You could do a thin black border then a 1" strip of all the fabrics you used, then wider black again.

    black is fine, but first do another thinner border (perhaps 1-2 inches) with a bright, popping color like red or purple. I think it would be fun to do a binding that is checkerboard, or stripes...

    Nice quilt by the way - very cool, man!
