I am looking to replace my small Brother, and am looking for suggestions for a good machine for $500.00 or less. Any suggestions?

Check out the Janome HD3000. It is more heavy-duty than your Brother with a 1 amp motor. I like the nifty top storage compartment. It has everything you need for quilting but not a lot of extra stitches. The Brother PC420 has many more stitches and gets good reviews also and it is a LOT of bang for the buck.
