I'd go for #1 or #4, not at all #3, but definitely audition the actual fabrics, as there's such a big difference between EQ representation and actual fabrics. The butterfly fabric is so beautifully dramatic that I'd be reluctant to make it anything less than the star of the show.

You know what I might "audition"? Surrounding that beautiful fabric in black, and then the bright red or yellow in between for the smaller strips. I think it's really brave of you to cut into that fabric-it's gorgeous!!

I love the butterfly fabric, but the block design doesn't seem to show it off enough. The gold fabric might work better for you if it's more of a frame around your butterfly block. I would use a larger block for the butterfly and frame it with a narrower strip of the gold. Using two bright colors in your alternating block takes a lot away from the butterfly. You want people's eye to be attracted to the beautiful colors in the butterfly when they look at the finished quilt.

Number 3, and change the yellow out for the orange with the smaller blue strips.
