Hi all, have just finished queen sized jewel box quilt for my sister. Yellow background and patterned red, orange. black and browns. This was my first queen size quilt which I meandered myself on my Janome QC. It is way from perfect but I am so pleased that it looks ok. When I can work out how to do it, I will post a picture of it. Thank you for all your help with it. Now my DD would like me to make her a black and white queen for her bed. I have searched for another pattern but cannot make my mind up which to do. Do you think that a jewel box pattern would be okay in black and white? Patterne material not solid colour, except for the background which I was thinking should be white. She would be happy for me to put in a small amount of another colour, but I think I would like to keep it black and white. What do you all think?

I like an accent color added to black and white, but it is a personal preference of mine.

I think another pattern would look better as a two color quilt. The Irish Chain comes to mind but there are others.

Many thanks for all your answers. Have looked at your link doghousemum, but don't think i like it as much as i thought i would. Have searched and found another one by Kayaker26 which is a black and white disappearing nine patch. Looks lovely, but not sure what size squares should do for a queen. Any ideas?

Hi Coventry, see that you are UK to. Your quilt is lovely. What size is it.

I've seen lots of fun two color quilts lately:
    Hunters Star
    Irish Chain
Eyes of March (from Quilterscache -- but paper piecing)
    Night and Day (eleanor burns)

Depending on the patterns of fabric (if you have fabrics that span the two values), you could also do a Log Cabin with another color as the very middle (red/pink/blue/yellow). I just saw one out here that was gorgeous but don't have a link for you

I just completed one that was mostly black and white and I had originally started out as all B&W, but in the end had to add some pink!
