I had one that was a piece of junk. Nothing but problems and always in for repair. I junked it and bought a Viking.

I bought a prw4000 for my DD a few years ago. It travels everywhere with her. She has made everything from fleece jackets to quilts on it . It's lightweight and is easy to use.Other DD has an older model brother, 8072 I think. A bit heavier but again, has had no issues at all. Both were purchased @ WM. buy the best you feel you can afford.

You get what you pay for. $100 is NOT a lot to spend on a sewing machine!! I realize that not every one has thousands to spend on a sewing machine, but generally, the more you spend, the better quality machine you get.

I spent over $700 for a Viking 33 years ago. It's still working & sewing through 16 layers of denim on its low gear, just like when new!!! Never regretted spending the money!!

    Good Luck!!

Just curious, but what on Earth were you working on that required you to sew through 16 layers of denim in the first place?
