Okay….. I resized this to be starting with a 20 inch feathered star center. I thought the pattern needed a final border so I added a 3” block pieced border to make the finished size 64x88.
Start is 20 inch feathered star with a 2 inch sashing border of the background fabric.
Next is the gifts…6 inch squares, bringing the size to 36x36.
Then the 2 inch background border. New size 40x40.
Now we have the first 3” pieced border block border on the top & the bottom. Now 40 x 46.
I left the trees at 9 inch blocks. It just seemed to be right. New size is 40x64.
Another beautiful 3” pieced border, but this time on all sides. New size 46x70.
Now we have the stars…thanks to Betty (eparys) for the tip about the spaced blocks. I used the spaced blocks and that made all the difference in the world. Now the size is 58x82.
And….just because I like to finish with a border, I added another 3 inch pieced border on all sides. Final finished size is 64x88.
I appreciated the comments and compliments about my efforts. It’s fun for me and keeps the brain in the thinking mode. Have fun & enjoy!

Barb, this is beautiful! And I love the outside border that you added!
You have done a wonderful job, and I am soooo very appreciative. I did email the quilter of the original quilt photo, but she has not responded...yet. Ha. I am sure she thinks I am nuts. But....ya never know unless ya ask, right?
    Thanks again........

You are welcome Jill. I hope you can get a pattern. I always like to know if I was close.

Think I'll start working on this after New Years and see what I end up with!

Jillmc, thank you for starting this thread.

Barb in Louisiana, thank you for all the work you put into drafting a pattern. The second version is better than the first.

Without both of you, the rest of us wouldn't have this wonderful quilt to make.

I can not wait to see what someone does with this thread! While Barb (imho) has done a much better job than what I came up with, someone PM'ed me asking for my smaller version. So here it is - mine would finish up at 54x64

These sizes are Finished Sizes not raw edge

    Center – 20” square

    Border 1 – gold – 1”(quilt shouldmeasure 21x21here)
    Border 2 – presents – 5”(presents are 5x5) (quilt should measure 32x32 here)
    Border 3 – white – 1 “ (quiltshould measure 34x34 here)
Border 4 - scrappy top and bottom –2” wide (quilt should measure 34x38 here)
Border 5 – Trees top and bottom– 5” x 34”long (quilt should measure 34x48 here)
    Border 6 – Scrappy – 2” (quiltshould measure 38x52 here)
Border 7 – Stars – blocks are 6”square (quilt should measure 50x64 here)

Betty, Thank you so much! Your pattern gives us more options to play with! I may end up mixing and matching your borders with Barb’s! You are very sweet to take the time to do this, and I am anxious to see the quikts that get put together!
