Twinkie, in the comments, the quilter said she just used 1 1/2" strips...to me, it looks like the batiks are jelly roll width (2 1/2") and the black strips are 1 1/2". Very pretty quilt!

Thanks to each and every one of the members who attempted to help me. I did try to go through the comments but special thanks to LoriEl. Also, the maker of the quilt, Bernamom, answered my pm and gave me permission to duplicate this quilt and gave me step by step instructions. The members of this board are the greatest and so giving.
