I am making some placemats for a table on our patio and I want to be able to wipe them clean. Is there any type of vinyl or fusible vinyl that you can use to cover them. I hope so as I don't want people to be afraid of using them when we're having a picnic. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you look in walmart they have vinyl you can buy that would sew over the top of the placemat nicely.

Thanks April - I assume you sew around the edges?

Clear Contact Paper works great. Make sure you get the Contact brand. WalMart usually has it.

I think I saw some at JoAnn's that you iron on. Could just be my crazies acting up.

That is actually a great idea! I could make some cute placemats for my two little grandsons and put the vinyl on them and not worry about stains!

Oh - I'm excited about possibly finding an iron-on vinyl. That would be great.

Yep, there is iron on vinyl. I used it on the lining for a cosmetic bag for my daughter. Worked great and the fabric was still flexible and no problem sewing it. It was called Thermo web iron on vinyl.
