My group is small (12) so last year we had a bag exchange. Everyone brought a grocery bag with a block in it and extra fabric. We exhanged bags once a month so every one took a turn making something in the other persons bag. At the end of 12 months we ended up with 12 quilt blocks to make a quilt with. some people even said you could add some of your own fabric to the project. We also did a row by row the same way.

My quilt group is rather small too...around 18-20. We don't all meet at the same time, but we have several get together's every month. We started as a group brought together at a local quilt shop. When the owner passed away we all agreed to stick together. We meet every Tuesday night (with few exceptions) at one of the members houses for sit and stitch, although we do more sitting and talking than stitching. We get together every first Saturday at another member's house and on the third Saturday of every month at another member's house. We each volunteer to open our homes and sew and potluck. Just this last month another member started a block of the month which 8 of us have decided to join.

Then I am in charge of arranging two quilt retreats a year where 15-18 of us go. We have gone to the coast twice and just reserved the retreat house for a 5 day, 4 night retreat in October.

at my guild we have a block of the month raffle. you give out a pattern at a meeting and you each make one of the blocks to bring to the next meeting. when you turn in your block you get a raffle ticket. If you make more than one block then you get a raffle ticket for each block you make. The more blocks you turn in the better your chances of winning. The winner of the raffle gets all of the blocks!
