Need help with my walking foot
A friend gave me a universal walking foot to use on my Brother LS-2125 machine. I can't get it to work properly. The needle keeps hitting the metal part of the foot and breaking needles. Is there any adjustments I can make or is the foot no good? Thanks!

I hope this doesn't sound nasty, but, do you know how they get installed? The fork piece is inserted to surround the thread screw horizontal post prior/as the foot itself is attached to the presser foot post.

I have it installed like it's supposed to be. The needle isn't adjustable. I wish I had a good enough camera to get an up-close picture. The best I can describe it is when the needle goes down, it hits the metal part in the center. It seems like it needs to be set forward just a pinch so the needle doesn't hit. I've tried to do that and it hasn't helped.

This may be far out, but could you file away the part that the needle hits? I suppose that isn't possible, but I once filed down a filling after I got back from the dentist. The filling was just a tad too tall. Thought it might work? My walking foot is built in, so I am probably looking at a walking foot that isn't like yours.

My best guess is that the "universal" foot isn't right for your machine. It probably fits a lot of machines, which is why they label it as "universal". Sewing machines vary so much it's quite impossible for any one walking foot to fit every machine on the market.
Usually the best walking foot for a given machine is the walking foot sold specifically for that machine. Sometimes you can find a generic foot that gives a good result; however, often the generics are lesser quality and may not work well.
