Default Need help with new machine again

I come to you all again with my dilemma with my new Viking Sapphire 930. Life has taken me away from it for awhile but now I'm back to sewing. You helped me when I needed to do free motion but now I can't get back to straight stitching. The fabric won't feed. The screen says set to straight stitch but after going through the manual the problem seems to be the presser foot. It won't go down onto the fabric but stays in pivot height. It drops at first but when I stitch it lifts to pivot. The feed dogs are up but fabric won't feed.
Can anybody lead me into the right direction? Thank you so much because I'm stuck with many projects for people.

What is your stitch length set to? If it's set to 0, the fabric won't feed.

If you haven't already done it, my first suggestion is to clean the feed dogs. When they are packed full of dust, they can't move. Then move the feed dogs up and down a few times.

Next, change the stitch to see if the machine will feed with another stitch.

That's all I have to suggest. Hope you get the answer you need!

If you can control the amount of pressure put on the presser foot that may be the problem. When FMQing you have to lessen the pressure. There should be a knob straight up from the needle and presser foot. Turn that knob to apply more pressure.

Have you googled and looked through all the youtube videos for your machine? https://www.google.ca/search?q=learn....0.q0s-i5IDu6Y
I have the 870 so different than yours, but I know if I have chosen just one different setting things don't work quite like they are supposed to.
Does your manual tell you what settings to be on? Mine has a few warning settings, like not letting you do a zig zag stitch when you have set it for the straight stitch plate (just a thought)

I had a lady in my class last week, who had a Babylock that was smarter than all of us (the machine was). We finally figured out to press the "edit" button to change things like presser foot height, and to get in and out of free-motion. Her machine had an icon that was a page with a pencil. Have you got a button that represents "edit?"

I don't have your machine but my much older Viking has a button I push for 'needle up/down' in the are above the needle. Is there a similar button that you push for the 'pivot' feature on your machine?? Perhaps that's the culprit if the presser foot won't drop all the way down to the fabric?? Just a thought.

Did you get your machine to work again?

Can you manually turn the hand wheel? I have BL machines and doing that resets the foot and feed dogs.

Also do a shut down and restart again. That can re-set everything.

This video is how you set the Sapphire up for free motion quilting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l36kmrxU4pw Watching it should show you what to change back. I watched it as far as seeing the "Float needle setting". That little setting may be your whole problem.
