I washed my newly completed quilt and added the color catchers for preventing fabric bleed. When I got it out of the washer I found the black backing bleed onto the light colors on the front. Is there anything I can do to save this quilt? Please help if you can.

Rachel recently had this happen with red fabrics in her quilt. Bled all over. Nightmare.

Here's her thread. And it has a VERY happy ending.

Her fixit post is on the 2nd page in the middle. But worth it to read the whole thread for all the suggestions.

But PaperPrincess is right - NO DRYER.

ooc, did you use a front loading machine?

Sorry this happened to you but it's not yet necessarily a permanent disaster.

Thanks so much for the info. I will try synthropol to wash the quilt in and see if the bleed comes out.

Oh...black is hard. Try washing it with Oxyclean or Spray & Wash sprayed only on the black run area.

When using black solid I recommend to people to wash twice in warm water to get all the dye out.

BTW, MTS, that link you posted doesn't work.
